Figs? In Tipp? Or anywhere in Ireland? Great harvest, great pic, enjoy the fruits of your labours!
I know! Isn’t it wonderful! I was encouraged when I saw an amazing tree at Belmont Mill years ago – it was covered with fruit. We’ve this one planted about 5 years and got 4 fruit off it last year…. about 20 on it this year!!!!

Have been trying to find someone to ask about fig!! Have seen some great plants around with loads of fruit!! Do they ripen okay for you? Also did you do anything particular planting? Have heard to put rubble in the bottom of planting hole as the plant is meant to do better in restricted space???!
Oh lord, David, not sure I’m going to be much help! I’ll do my best. They do ripen fine – you need to watch out for wasps though – and pick them as they ripen. We didn’t do anything in particular regarding planting other than put it against a west facing wall in a very sheltered spot (our ground is very stoney). In fact, if anything the tree has outgrown the spot but I shall forgive it! 🙂
FIGS?!?! I am highly envious!
I know! I’m so thrilled! Will be sharing those two tonight.
Lucky you!
Lovely sized squash, fantastic to have it so ripe at the beginning of August 🙂
Dee, this is the third one I’ve harvested – planted them last year too – and they store for ages. And are so so delicious.
Gorgeous! Just impatiently watching my tomatoes go red at this point, although I have harvested some greens. Is that a pumpkin?
Hi, it’s a squash …. I think it’s called Haikado but I need to check the spelling of that!!! 🙂 They are delicious though whatever they are called, and store for months and months.
