I posted a photograph on Friday last of my apple tart and promised a recipe.
This is so so simple, but of course, there is a story to it! My Mum was known throughout our growing up years as the maker of the best apple tarts in the world! Whenever friends called in, it was likely that they would ask has your Mum be making apple tart! Her secret, I think, was the amount of sugar she put it… also she made damn nice pastry!
I’ve posted before my version of my Mum’s pastry.
So the recipe for the apple tart…. just roll out the pastry (we always liked it quite thin), pile on the thinly sliced apples and add, as they would say in any Enid Blyton story, lashings and lashings of sugar and a sprinkling of real cloves.
Bake in the oven at 180 deg. for about 25 minutes, take out and sprinkle caster sugar on top… see what I mean about all that sugar!
Enjoy. 🙂
