My lovely niece came on a very quick visit recently, which just brought back so many memories! We had 24 hours of long chats over countless cups of tea (for me) – she’s still not discovered the delights of tea! 🙂 I had missed those chats!
When Chloe was growing up we used to have so many ‘chats’ as I was the one who dropped off and collected her from school.
There was the ‘Santa’ conversation. “I’m not going to tell anyone what I want from Santa this year”. Oooh, not even me? “Oh, OK so, I’ll tell you.” Result!
The following year, mind you, she warned her Dad that there was no such thing as Santa but don’t tell Mammy … she still believes!
There were shared colouring-in moments! Gosh, I should get a colouring book…. you know colouring-in especially keeping between the lines – is very, very therapeutic! 🙂
However, one of the fondest memories is….. “so what will you be when you grow up?”
Answer….. “I’m going to be a leg waxer, like Mary’!
See once upon a time I was a city girl, getting dressed up, going out places and yes, doing the whole beauty routine. But, I was extremely lucky, my closest friend Mary was a beautician and she came to me!
Now wouldn’t every girl love that!
Poor Mary worked so hard on those nights…. cos of course, it wasn’t just me! It would be an excuse for a couple of girlfriends to get together, eat well, drink wine and have the beauty thing done! And Chloe loved all those evenings, and Mary, bless her, always went through the motions of ‘leg waxing’ on Chloe ….. hero worship at it best! 🙂
Well, Chloe is all grown up now, and no, she’s not a ‘leg waxer’ but she is a make-up artist! She works full-time with Mac, but will also come to your home and do your make-up for you for that special occasion. Not too far off that childhood ambition! So we should listen to what children say to us, eh?
If you’re in Dublin call into the Mac shop in BT’s, you’ll find the beautiful Chloe Mac in there or check out her facebook page! Tell her, her auntie sent you 🙂
What a lovely post. Your niece has a very special aunt and you a very special niece. Wonderful pictures and you are right, Chloe is beautiful 🙂
Thanks Paula!
I do think she’s rather special 🙂
A city girl you say? what would the church flower ladies say?
They’d probably ‘say’ prayers for me!
Where did you find the leg waxing photo, I’ve never seen that! This post makes me smile! *hugs*
Had to trawl through a pile of old photos, but had a vague memory of it! I’ll email it to you!
