Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Did you have a little sing a long? Bet you did 🙂
Here are just some of my favourite things from my kitchen.
We spent a lot, an awful lot of our time, in our kitchen (yesterday morning we sat down to breakfast with friends at 10 am and stood up from the table at 2.30 pm)! That’s a lot of time!
So, of course, I have things I love in my kitchen.
Here are my top 5.
1. My radio – we don’t, and never will have a tv, in the kitchen. I listen to the radio all the time in the kitchen and switch about to favourite stations and programmes depending on the time of day, and day of week.
This is old, and recycled, but I love my Roberts Radio.
2. My teapot. If you’ve ever visited us here in Redwood you will know we drink some amount of tea. And we are very particular about our tea too! It is tea leaves all the way here…. no bags please! This Le Creuset teapot makes the nicest tea ever!
3. Tea Cosy. Naturally, every teapot has to have its tea cosy. And isn’t this Rosina Wachtmeister one just beautiful?
and I have the matching oven gloves! My friend, Sheena, gave me these as a gift and I just so love them!
4. This tiny Neoflam frying pan, which was a gift to us from John of Winstons in Kilkenny. It has a ceramic coating and is so good to use.
Toasting nuts, frying eggs… all made quick and simple.
5. Bowls. I know, I know, there are only two of us but that doesn’t mean that meals can’t be served up nicely! So these beautiful Nicholas Mosse bowls are used on a daily basis.
So do you have favourite things in your kitchen?
What a lovely idea! I must make a list, but I love an antique stand we bought in a little shop in Terrystown in NY, my Nucholas Moss pottery bowls and my old sweet jars where I keep my flours!
Thank you Lily! It was actually difficult to keep it to five! There are so many other silly little things that I couldn’t part with!
I love this list Margaret.
AND I just found my teapot. Outside in the bike shed. Used to give water to a duck. Go figure. I have seen the Le Creuset teapots and they are beautiful and heavy and colourful. And you do make the best tea ever. xx
Bike shed? perfect place for teapot! I’m sure it makes perfect sense to a 7 year old!
And I still haven’t located my saucepan lid – must look in the lawnmower shed! That’s where I found my favourite kitchen knife!

One of my kitchen faves is my blender, I love smoothies and could’nt make them without my trusty blender. You may have inspired a post from me with this theme!
Thank you Bridget! I have a trusty juicer (which is getting lots of use at the moment as I try to shift this bug).
I am so glad I am inspiring people to look around their kitchens! Looking forward to reading your top 5 kitchen things!
