I didn’t make it to #InishFood but I did get a present! 🙂 Thanks to all involved the organisation and arranging that ended with me going to Rowallane Garden Kitchen on the yeast bread-making course. Part of the deal was that I would write a blog post for ayearinredwood….. no such thing as a free lunch eh?
The gardens at Rowallane House are magnificent….. natural landscaping in keeping with nature.
David from The Garden Kitchen giving us instruction on yeast bread making…. we even got to discuss the arcane making of sourdough. I came home with my beast which is being fed regularly! 🙂
Everybody getting hands-on.
We even made some beer bread… well some of us did… then others drank the beer. It was a delicious beer from a micro-brewery in Belfast and of course, I’ve forgotten the name. Sorry!
While waiting for dough to rise, David took us on a tour. They make beautiful pottery at Rowallane.
David’s salad and herb garden is soooo neat and tidy!
Altogether a great day… if you get a chance to attend one of David’s bread-making courses… be sure to avail of it!
The other half….. Alfie….. @pigoftheday!
Looks like this was a great course, congrats again on the win!
Kristin,
Alfie really enjoyed it! I didn’t really win… but the person who did couldn’t make it and gave it to me! Complicated! Well done you on all the organising!
Margaret
I am so glad Alfie enjoyed – It was a pleasure to have him join us – and a pleasure to have some lovely pork to enjoy too 😀
Laura,
Alfie really enjoyed the day, keeps telling me of the wonderful gardens and pottery! The photos you took of the pork are amazing too! Glad you’ve been enjoying it!
